A Rich History
Pimpama is known for its new housing estates and planned communities. With a rich history in farming, Pimpama was previously known as a small farming community that emerged in the area in the 1860s, becoming a stop for Cobb and Co coaches. Also, a home to the state's first sawmill (which is where the name 'The Mill' derived from) and became known for growing arrowroot, supplying the entire country by 1908. The name "Pimpama" comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "place of the soldier bird," referring to the noisy miner.
